Fort Charlotte

Fort Charlotte – located on top of the Morne, this fort’s construction began under the French and continued after the British forces took possession. The site and buildings from the fort have been restored and renovated to house the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, which also includes a monument that commemorates the 27th Inniskilling Regiment’s possession of Morne Fortune from the French forces in 1796. At the military cemetery, first used in 1782, faint inscriptions on the tombstones tell the tales of French and English soldiers who died here.
